As you may have seen, our lives have been updated once more under new COVID measures and we are having to be dynamic and adjust accordingly. This unfortunately has meant some locations are unable to meet for the final meetup of this year, but we wish to take this moment to sincerely thank both all those involved with our communities across the various cities, and the BoT handlers who work tirelessly in the background to ensure their smooth operation and consistent good vibes. We wish you a relaxed, healthy and enjoyable holiday season and look forward to catching up with you all again hopefully in the new year.

If you have been reading this over the last few months, you would have known that we had our annual members-only DC4131 hike event a couple weeks ago, and it was one of our best and most attended to date! 🙂
We had literally the perfect weather for the day, and the multiple strategies on show were a sight to behold, from the “beer for breakfast” approach, to the “dressed like I’m doing national army service” professional readiness approach, to which we all I’m sure can agree, had an awesome time.

The long wait is finally over……… DC4131 BoT Meetups Are Resurrecting! 😀

What is going on our beloved community!?

It feels so strange to be back behind a keyboard typing this out, but we are BACK BABY!

The journey has been long and arduous, but we did not give up, we have been forever closely monitoring, evaluating and working hard behind the scenes to pick as best the right & safest time to make the infamous DEFCON Switzerland Beer on Tuesday physical meetups become a reality again, and we´ve finally made it.

We are super happy and honoured to be able to provide you once more an option for a physical monthly hacker social meetup, across various locations around our glorious nation. We very much hope and anticipate looking to catch up with all of you again across the coming months.

Having said all that, please note that not all our usual pre-COVID meetup locations and BoT masters are just quite ready yet to provide the physical meetup experience, so please bear with us as we all work to bring back the quality experiences you have come to expect from us. They will come….

And so, as much as we can celebrate on this occasion and milestone, we must still remain mindful and respectful to those around us and the still applicable conditions which we must abide by.

These, at the time of writing are still the following:

1. All persons must be sat down whilst eating or drinking in a public location (bar/restaurant). No mask is required whilst sat at the table, but is required when moving around internally.
2. Indoor Seating – No further number restrictions.
3. Outdoor Seating – No further number restrictions.
4. Please sign up and register according to the policy/system of the locaiton you are meeting at.

 

We very much thank you for your respect to those around you and the wider community/public during our gatherings. We at the board also continue to encourage the option and ability to gain COVID vaccination, but completely respect the personal and individual decision it represents, and as such is not a mandatory requirement for any of our meetups (subject to individual location requirements).

A mighty fine hello to all you (hopefully holiday relaxed) people out there.

 

After a holiday hiatus, we are back! 😀

 

We made it, we survived 2020 and all it had to throw at us, and turned a corner into 2021. This does not mean the end however, as we can clearly see from what is still going on around us…

With this in mind, we are still, unfortunately, far from a safe time to start exploring physical meetup options again, which is why we are continuing to offer our premium online meetup experience over at the BoT Discord server.

We have some wonderfully dedicated community members ensuring fun and eventful times are had when you are able to join us, from your latest work from home hax to fighting over music playlists and even gaming sessions to cry over how you still can´t get your hands on a new 3090…

 

This means all BoT meetups & regular interactions/chats will be continued across our available virtual environments, on both our Slack Channel & Discord Server.

 

Until further notice, all monthly meetups will be held online on the 2nd Tuesday of every month.

Hello to all,

 

The last few weeks have seen, once more, a lot of changes in the way we are able to live day to day life. And after further careful discussion and consideration, the board here at DC4131 have concluded that we are to stop all physical meetups of the BoTs around the nation for the foreseeable future, until such a time again where demonstrable improvement and safety for the community can be ensured to be able to meet up in a socially safe manner. This decision, as all other hard decisions in the past, has not been taken lightly, but we are fully aware of pros & cons to such stances, but we only sincerely act in our community’s best interests and well-being at heart. Of course, we will continue to monitor the situation as it progresses slowly and provide updates once again when other opportunities become available.

 

Having said that, we are not just disappearing! This means all BoT meetups & chats will be continued across our available virtual environments, on both our Slack Channel & Discord Server. We are confident that you members of our fine community will still encourage and provide a great social environment on dates on which you can attend, after all at this point, we should be all quite used to sharing a drink through a screen… 😉
