Another month has travelled by, and as promised, we have worked hard in the background to enable some meetups to become physical again! (with expected safety measures still in place…) 😀

Due to the times, some locations and meetup dates have had to be adjusted and/or updated so please take the time to read through the update below to see how they may affect you. Be aware that the provided details are continually subject to last minute change so please use the available contact resources for the latest info. *For those locations that are not able to provide a physical meetup just yet, fret not as the online meetup options are still available (Discord Server etc…) and we are continually working on making regular physical meetups again as soon as it is safe and available to do so.

We are VERY VERY much looking forward to catching up with you again.

Hello To All DC4131’rs,

!!! IT FINALLY HAPPENED !!!

DEFCON IS CANCELLED    :’D

 

What another month it has been for the infosec community….. for years the cycles of jokes and memes made the rounds, never truly believing it would ever happen, but here we are! What will life be like in a post-cancellation DEFCON world? What will the new meme be?

 

All jokes aside, we hope your are remaining well, at least summer is fully with us now….

We are, always, working very hard in the shadows to see how’s things look across all our current locations and constantly monitoring Government guidelines. Whilst further easing has happened again at the end of May, and theoretically allowing the potential starting of some physical meetups again, it is unfortunate that some of our beloved meetup locations have seemingly succumb to the pressures of COVID closure, meaning we are currently regrouping on some areas to find and provide the best possible meetup locations for you fine patrons. So with this in mind, we very much ask for your patience one last time for this month, in which we look and aim to get everyone back to ground 0 and establish the new steady baseline to offer you our consistent meetups once more. We very much look forward and anticipate that we will return to full strength in July*!! 😀

*Subject to continued government guidance/observation (of them…. dum dum dum….)

 

In the meantime, we are still offering opportunities to meet up virtually online every Tuesday, we have a dedicated Discord server which can be joined here: discord.gg/Q3KXn5u

As well as potentially more localised offerings, which can be found out directly from your BoT location rep. For those who do not know who their local BoT reps are, drop the board an email 😉

There should be hopefully at least one person present every Tuesday this month to have a nice chin wag with. 🙂

Greetings DC4131 Gang,

As life continues to move on, we are seemingly starting to turn a corner, which only means we get closer and closer to the time of physical meet ups once more! 🙂

However, we are still not quite there yet, and in standing strong and remaining united in this battle, May’s meetups will once more not be possible physically…….. BUT DO NOT FRET!

Many members of our great community have stood up and given time to make virtual online meeting places available for those who still wish to join in spirit and over TCP flows…

For those interested, reach out to your local BoT representative for details on whats on offer in your area. For those who do not know who their local BoT reps are, drop the board an email 😉

Holla DC4131 Team,

Unless you’ve been living under a rock the last month, you’ll notice a lot has changed over this time. As we continue to battle COVID-19 globally, society as a whole and events globally have had to adjust and in most cases make sacrifices to help contain and defeat the pandemic.

And in this same spirit, we are continuing to postpone all DC4131 events until further notice. No doubt we want to be outside and share a drink just as much as you, but we continue to take responsibility to ensure the safety and health of all the people and communities around us, and ask for your continued understanding and patience in these testing times.

Of course, when the GLORIOUS days come again where we are released, many rounds of “FREEDOM DRINKS” will be had 🙂

In the meantime, we are thinking about setting up an onion based black market for coveted rare items (e.g. toilet paper, anti-boredom pills, etc.) , should you have anything to contribute let us know….. ;P ……. Just kidding… nobody likes a panic buyer……

As you may know, 2020 marks an Area41 year, meaning one of Switzerland’s premier InfoSec cons is gracing us with its amazing presence and very much have a ton of awesome stuff planned and in store. For those of you who are currently working on or sitting on some sweet, sweet research or have ideas/content that you feel many in the community can benefit from, DON’T BE SHY TO SHARE! 😀

Our final DC4131 Dojo of the year was a great success. Many people joined to gain valuable knowledge and hands on experience with RFID hacking with the numerous Proxmark devices we had available. We want to thank once more Andreas for hosting the night!

Hot off the back of the DEF CON DC4131 hike 2019 (which was really awesome and good times had 🙂 ), this coming month hosts your last DEF CON Dojo for the year, where the topic will be RFID Hacking 2.0, a continuation from the introductory session held earlier in the year. No longer are we satisfied just easily hacking into Amazon offered home security solutions… this time we enter the world of UHF RFID tags and far more common real world examples of how (in)secure solutions are out there utilising them. We have community member and Proxmark Geek Andreas L kindly hosting this workshop and we are super excited to learn the ways of the RFID HAxOr Jedis, not one to miss! Once again, open to everyone!
